Dear Parents:

I am pleased to have your student in English II this year. This will be an exciting year for your young adult and I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with them. Please take the time to review the syllabus, which contains all the important information you will need to know for this course.

Here is a little bit of information about myself! I grew up and went to college in northwest Ohio, graduating from Bowling Green State University in 2014 with a degree in English Education for grades 7-12. This will be my 5th year of teaching English. For the last four years, I have been teaching 8th grade just next door at Rossview Middle. I enjoy many outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, and swimming, and love to read or watch television/movies in my spare time. I have two dogs, Luna and Lily, and a cat, Leo. My brother recently joined the military and is stationed here, along with four of my cousins as well!

This year we will be working from consumable workbooks, online texts, End of Course review materials, novels, and ACT practice material. It is very important that your student comes to class prepared each day. We will have homework at least two days per week and testing at least once every two weeks.

I will be glad to meet with you in person or communicate through e-mail, Remind, or phone concerning your student’s progress. I am available to have a conversation or to meet after 2:30 or during 5th period. If possible, please access your student’s grades at any time on PowerSchool (see or speak with a guidance counselor for ID and password). I encourage you to join your student’s Remind to stay in the loop! This will be especially important for parents of virtual students OR in the event that all students transition to virtual learning. Additionally, I can add you to your student’s Google Classroom if you are interested. Simply send the best e-mail address for you through e-mail or Remind.

If you are interested in donating materials to the classroom, I would greatly appreciate it. Students use up Kleenex, pencils, and loose-leaf college ruled paper the most.

I am looking forward to working together with you to ensure that your student is successful.
Thank you in advance for your flexibility, patience, and support this year!

Sincerely,
